Nokia Siemens Networks pledges support for Russian foundation

31/01/2011

Nokia Siemens Networks has pledged its support to the Skolkovo “Foundation for Development of the Center of Research and Commercialization of New Technologies” as a part of the Skolkovo Innograd project established by the Russian Federation. The foundation aims to develop an innovation hub – or Innograd – in Skolkovo, 20 km west of Moscow. As one of the prime participants, Nokia Siemens Networks has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Skolkovo Foundation aimed at telecoms innovation and expertise. Under the terms of the MoU, Nokia Siemens Networks aims to support the growth of Russia’s technical education, research and development (R&D), venture capital and infrastructure while promoting the foundation’s development globally. The focus of the Skolkovo Innograd will be on areas including telecommunications, information technology, energy, biomedical research and nuclear technology for civil use. Nokia Siemens Networks expects to establish specific activities as part of the Skolkovo Innograd in 2011.
